Gazprom mulls cooperation options with Turkish consumers
MOSCOW, Jun 28 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom is considering various options of cooperation with gas consumers in Turkey and will adjust its work to the changing market conditions in the country, official representative Sergei Kupriyanov told PRIME on Wednesday.
“We are attentively monitoring the development trends of the Turkish energy market and considering various options of cooperation with the Turkish consumers. A long-term model of work will adapt to the changing conditions of the energy market of this country,” Kupriyanov said.
“The Turkish gas market, Gazprom's second largest by export volumes, is very important for us. We assume that Turkey’s role as the largest energy player in the region will grow in future. This is why we are currently developing a new large infrastructure project Turkish Stream, which will bring large volumes of gas to the country directly.”
Kommersant business daily reported citing sources that Gazprom group may leave the Turkish internal market in 2017, as Gazprombank is at a final stage to sell Promak, which controls Energo and Avrasya, importers of Russian gas to Turkey. Gazprom also plans to sell its 71% stake in Bosphorus gas to Turkey’s Sen Group.
